San Diego County is expected to get 0.25 inches to 0.50 inches of precipitation from the system, which will hit much harder in northern Los Angeles County.
A Pacific storm super-charged by an atmospheric river from the subtropics drenched northern California on Thursday but will only produce light rain in San Diego County when it moves ashore late Friday, the National Weather Service said.
Forecasters said the region will get brushed by the outer-most edge of the system. Cities at and near the coast will receive about one-quarter of an inch of rain while communities farther inland get roughly twice as much. The storm is expected to move into north coastal San Diego County around 5 p.m. Friday, then spread to the south and east. Most of the rain will fall before dawn on Saturday. Sporadic showers could last into Saturday afternoon.The weather service says a similar storm is likely to flow through the county next week, starting late Tuesday.
