Afternoon highs in the 60s become the norm for the next 7-10, along with some hit or miss rain chances

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Alabama’s bitterly cold week has come and gone... now warmer air is back, so how long will it stick around for? We are keeping an eye on highs in the 60s and overnight remaining above freezing for at least the next 7 to 10 days; that means we end January and head into February with above average temperatures.

The milder air is not the only thing that returns to our forecast. While warmer temperatures will be appreciated, we will also track showers rolling through Alabama starting Sunday night and lasting through early Monday morning.Watch the latest live and local weather data below, streaming on WSFA Weather Now! Please note, this stream does not include live severe weather coverage, only data on the latest weather conditions.

Expect showers to develop after the sun sets; pockets of localized heavier rain will be embedded inside a widespread area of light shower activity, making the morning commute a bit messy. Thankfully the big bulk of our rain coverage is expected through the first half of the day on Monday, with the afternoon trending drier.

Highs Monday are in the mid to upper 50s with plenty of clouds around, even as morning showers start to fade in coverage.Overnight Monday we will keep with a few showers and lows near either side 40 degrees... warm enough to say you won’t need to drip a faucet, but probably our coolest morning in the foreseeable future.

Tuesday and Wednesday we will see highs in the 60s. One or two showers will be possible, but coverage of rain is isolated at best.Long range forecast models indicate another rain chance arriving Thursday of next week, with temperatures remaining in the 60s for afternoon highs and lows in the lower 40s.The only person in the world with a functioning pig organ is thriving after a record 2 monthsWet weather returns tonight, but much milder air is back as well...
