Much of the area will likely be dry Tuesday through Friday with minimal signs of pop-up showers and storms

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - More late May heat and mugginess will be with us on this Memorial Day. There will also be scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day -- especially between 12 p.m. and 9 p.m.

In addition, some of the storms could be strong to severe. The threats today include very heavy rain, ample lightning, strong to damaging wind gusts, and some small hail. It will not rain everywhere, and it will definitely not rain all day long in any one location. Plenty of dry time is expected for any outdoor plans. Still, we suggest incorporating wet and stormy weather into your day.

Highs will get into the upper 80s and lower 90s if your area dodges the rain. When factoring in the humidity, it will easily feel like it’s in the upper 90s in many places this afternoon. Be sure to take it easy and stay hydrated if you’ll be spending time outdoors. After today’s storminess comes a pretty decent reprieve from the uncomfortable heat and humidity combo courtesy of a cold front...

That front will move through tonight and will mostly put an end to the rain for the remainder of the week. I can’t rule out a couple of showers and/or storms, especially Wednesday into Thursday. Most of Central Alabama will be dry with a good amount of sunshine Tuesday through Friday with noticeably lower humidity levels, high temperatures in the middle and upper 80s, and low temps coming down a bit into the 60s.The weather will be mostly quiet and less humid starting Tuesday.
