Tracking several fronts that *could* bring a shower to parts of the area this week

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - A cold front swept through the region on Sunday, causing temperatures to cool a bit for the new work and school week ahead. As for rain chances, they remain slim this week, meaning this October will be on the driest on record for the state.

That would make October 2024 the driest month we’ve experienced since October of 1978 and the fourth-driest month on record at Montgomery. The driest month was October 1904; it remains the only month that Montgomery measured NO rain whatsoever! A front approaches the state from the west on Thursday into Thursday night. The best data we have now suggest this front will bring rain to parts of north Alabama, but stop *just* before reaching us. Hopefully it will move slightly farther east than expected. If it does, our chance of rain could increase on Halloween.
