What was originally reported to be a two-alarm fire was increased to a three-alarm box level response because of how widespread the fire was at the former Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.
Firefighting efforts continued Sunday morning as firefighters worked to extinguish a blaze at a vacant former resort in St. Charles, which began Saturday afternoon.
The St. Charles Fire Department responded around 4:40 p.m. to a report of a fire at the former Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 Main St., according to a social media post from the city of St. Charles, a western suburb in Kane County.The first fire engine arrived at 4:45 p.m. and found “serious fire conditions” coming from several areas within a structure on the property.
More than 20 area fire departments, St. Charles Police, the Emergency Management Agency, public works and the city’s electric and water departments also joined in the response. The West Chicago Water Department and the Kane County Office of Emergency Management joined forces during the incident.No civilians had been reported injured and there had been no casualties, officials said. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the St. Charles Fire and Police departments.
