Crews were dispatched at 2:15 p.m. Firefighters found a compressed natural gas truck on fire and quickly controlled the situation by 2:24 p.m. No injuries were reported.
The Tucson Fire Department responded to a trash truck fire on the Southside Sunday afternoon. TFD says it started at the Environmental Services yard near Park Avenue and Ajo Way around 2:15 p.m.. Firefighters say they found a compressed natural gas truck on fire and quickly brought the situation under control by 2:24 p.m.No injuries were reported, and TFD says they're still investigating the cause of the fire. This is the second trash truck fire in two days.
According to Northwest Fire, five garbage trucks caught fire and three were completely destroyed. According to TFD, it's important to be careful about what you're throwing away. In a statement, TFD said 'Simple steps like ensuring waste and recycling are free from flammable materials and disposing of hazardous waste properly can make a big difference.
