Four-star athlete and Southside-Selma High School standout Derick Smith made his commitment to Auburn official, putting the pen to paper Wednesday morning.Auburn flipped Smith away from his Alabama commitment following its annual “Big Cat Weekend” recruiting event in July.Smith, who ranks as the No. 2 athlete in the nation and the No. 7 2025 recruit in the state of Alabama, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, previously committed to the Crimson Tide in March, prior to his flip.
Defensively, he finished with 74 total tackles, 15 tackles for a loss, 11 sacks and recovered three fumbles.
