The major threat remains to the town of Cervantes, 200 kilometres north of Perth in the Shire of Dandaragan,Residents were told to leave north along Indian Ocean Drive towards Jurien Bay while it remained safe to do so.) Shire of Dandaragan president Tony O'Gorman said he had not heard of any injuries or property losses overnight."We spoke to a number of people in Cervantes through Facebook last night and asked them to move. And I know a number of people have come up here to Jurien Bay."
"You can still smell the smoke quite heavily in , but it seems to have moved away from the town at the moment," he said. The forecast for Thursday does not suggest a reprieve for fire crews, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-30s and largely easterly winds likely to keep pushing the fire towards Cervantes.
