Kevin Dave, the Seattle Police Department officer who struck and killed college student Jaahnavi Kandula in January 2023, has been fired. The Seattle Police Department (SPD) announced Dave's termination following an investigation by the Seattle Office of Police Accountability (OPA). Dave was responding to a 911 call when he collided with Kandula at a high speed.
Jaahnavi Kandula , who was hit and killed by a Seattle Police Department officer driving in 2023. A demonstration is planned for Sept. 24, 2024 with calls for charges against the officer who is still employed with the department.

Officers Use Emergency Lights for Emergency Response According to the report, Dave did not have his siren activated at the time of the collision. Instead, the officer "chirped" his siren at the intersection. He did have his emergency lights on, according to the SPD.
