A KZN third-year IT software development student, Mzamo Mbhele, has developed a job-hunting app that allows young people to find jobs near them. Job X is a zero-rated app that allows job seekers to use the app without having any data. | Lisaleesolomon1

Mzamo Mbhele launched Job x in November and within its first week of launch garnered well over 10 000 users.A KwaZulu-Natal IT software development student has launched a data-free app for job seekers.Mzamo Mbhele says he is"amazed" at how many people are being helped by the app.

"I have always been fascinated with technology from a very young age. I remember, by 11 years old, I was already repairing mobile devices at a local cellphone shop. I then chose to go and study IT development at Mangosuthu University of Technology because my love for developing tech-savvy things fascinated me," Mbhele said.

"I decided to create Job X because of how costly it was for people to do job hunting with internet cafe fees and many trips for CV drop-offs. But with Job X, you no longer need to travel to drop off a CV and you won't need to visit the internet cafe for CV drafting or file scanning, because the app literally does everything for you.

Mbhele says what sets Job X apart from any other app is that it allows you to build a professional CV, and also shows you the jobs available based on your location, skills, and qualifications."I plan to grow Job X into a big platform serving young people from many countries, while maintaining that the app stays free to use. Hopefully, as the app continues to prove to be successful, I'll manage to get some support from local big companies who would want to invest in the product.
