Severe scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected over interior parts of the province.
Severe thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain are also expected in the extreme eastern parts of the province. Residents to be affected are in areas under Nkandla, Nquthu, Okhahlamba, Msunduzi Ulundi, Ladysmith, Giants Castle, amongst others.The Department of Cooperative Governance in KZN's Nonala Ndlovu urged residents to take caution when travelling.
"Avoid crossing low bridges and rivers as this may be flooded. Delay travelling where possible as roads may become hazardous. "People living along river banks must remain alert and evacuate to higher grounds as soon as water levels rise to higher-than-normal. Disaster management teams have activated all contingency plans."

The latest resettlement phase comes several months after Durban residents took it upon themselves to provide services themselves and rebuild infrastructure damage caused by the April 2022 floods which killed at least 430 people, displaced thousands and caused damage estimated at U.S.$685 million.
