A federal judge in Texas ruled that the Biden administration cannot sell materials intended for the border wall and cannot use funds allocated by Congress for border wall construction for any other purpose. This ruling comes after the Attorneys General filed a complaint in December regarding screenshots of the government surplus website GovPlanet showing wall materials up for auction.
While the Biden administration argued that excess materials should be transferred, donated, or sold, the judge determined that these funds are specifically designated for border wall construction. This decision does not affect the materials already listed for auction in December, as those are no longer under government control. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who initially planned to purchase the auctioned materials and donate them to the incoming Trump administration, later stated that they were largely unusable. President-elect Trump celebrated the ruling on his Truth social site, calling it a major victory for America's national security
