A federal judge in Texas has ruled against the Biden administration's ability to sell surplus border wall materials and use funds allocated for construction for other purposes.
A federal judge in Texas has ruled that the Biden administration cannot sell materials intended for the border wall and cannot use funds allocated by Congress for border wall construction for any other purpose. This ruling comes after attorneys general filed a complaint in December regarding the sale of wall materials on the government surplus website GovPlanet. While 60% of excess wall construction materials were given to authorized recipients like Texas , California, and U.S.
Customs and Border Protection, the other 40% was sold to GovPlanet in June. The materials originally listed for auction are no longer government property. Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick initially planned to buy the materials and donate them to the incoming Trump administration but later stated they were 'covered in concrete in rust' and 'mostly junk.' The ruling doesn't affect the previously listed auction materials, as Texas is in talks with the auctioneer to hold them until after the inauguration. President-elect Trump celebrated the ruling on his Truth social site, calling it a 'major, crucial WIN for America, and our National Security.
