Housing and Urban Development’s website. “HUD will use available resources to help Americans in need.”Liberal influencers and Democratic elected officials criticized the message, claiming it violates the law preventing the government and government officials from engaging in political activity. “This is absolutely a violation of the HATCH act and must be investigated immediately,” tweeted liberal influencer Brian Krassenstein. “The Hatch Act bars executive branch officials from engaging in political campaign activity while acting in their official capacity. Agency websites, run with taxpayer money, must remain non-partisan and strictly informational.”“There are laws in place to keep federal agencies nonpartisan,” the group tweeted. “This is not just unAmerican – it’s unlawful. That’s why we’ve launched an investigation."“Embedding partisan propaganda on a federal site is dangerous & likely illegal,” she tweeted. “To the far right: you just opened the door for the same weapon to be used against you.”
