A Utah mother is demanding change after she claims her teenage daughter faced discrimination at a popular water park.
She said Kolbie , who is has type-one diabetes and celiac, was denied entry with the food she needed, causing her to get sick. The water park claims they tried to accommodate her.
Cox and her husband said ensuring Kolbie has enough food options is a constant battle. While the park’s rules allow some food, it comes with restrictions. "Kolbie is 15. She doesn't have a car, and we were dropping her off," Kolbie's father, Kevin, said. "But let's say she had a car, and she could go to the car to get food out of a cooler. If she's low and dropping, by the time she makes it to the car, she will most likely be having a seizure in the parking lot by herself."
"It can't be a one-size-fits-all," Crippes said. "The process is supposed to be individualized because not all disabilities are the same."
