With the new season of Amazon's Fallout TV series coming up, it's likely you'll once again find yourself looking to scratch that irradiated itch by playing some Fallout video games. While there are plenty of great Fallout games you can play, along with a huge selection of transformative mods, there's one huge fan expansion that needs to be on your radar.
Not only is it basically a brand-new game, but it should be here before Fallout 5. Although I grant you, that really isn't saying much. Fallout: Miami Is A Huge New Fan Expansion Who needs Fallout 5 when this exists? Fallout: Miami is a hugely ambitious new project, similar in scope to Fallout: London. This is a giant new expansion made by fans, for fans, that sees The Sole Survivor from Fallout 4 leave the drab surroundings of Boston for the sun-soaked Miami. "Come in Post Apocalyptica! It’s a beautiful, balmy, day out in the Vacay Wastes with a gnarly 101 degrees on the winds. Watch out anyone travelling through Atlantic as Slaver Kooks have been sighted on the prowl, and Greenskins are out and about in Sheridan dropping in on unlucky groms, it' some choppy stuff! That's all wild stuff, but we've got a sandstorm comin' up from down south so stay safe out there bennies! But for those still hanging' ten - or eleven! - out there, this one is for you... The Sole Survivor journeys to the sunny South, following the promise of a well-paid job but ends up embroiled in a conflict between various groups, some vying for power, others fighting to uphold their ideals." Fallout: Miami offers up a new world to explore, all with its own main quest, side-quests, equipment, settlements, and a host of interesting characters and companions. A new trailer was recently released for the mod to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Fallout 4. I should stress there's no release date yet, and fan projects of this size can take a long while to see the light of day. Fallout: London, for example, was in development for over five years, primarily because it's being worked on by people who aren't getting paid to do it and still have to make money to feed and shelter themselves. I know, they're so selfish. It Should Keep Us Busy Till Fallout 5 We just have to have a little patience Even without a release date for Fallout: Miami, I feel pretty confident in saying we'll probably still be playing this fan expansion long before we ever play Fallout 5. That's because Bethesda's current focus is The Elder Scrolls 6. The most recent rumors suggest that game is coming in 2027, which means we probably won't see the next official Fallout until well into the 2030s. For now, then, if you're craving some Fallout action after the new series airs on Amazon, you'll probably want to head back to Fallout 4 and stuff it full of mods to keep it fresh. And be sure to keep an eye on Fallout: Miami going forward. 9.9/10 Fallout 4 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like Follow Followed RPG Action Systems OpenCritic Reviews Top Critic Avg: 87/100 Critics Rec: 89% Released November 10, 2015 ESRB M FOR MATURE: BLOOD AND GORE, INTENSE VIOLENCE, STRONG LANGUAGE, USE OF DRUGS Developer Bethesda Publisher Bethesda Engine Creation Cross-Platform Play no Cross Save no Franchise Fallout Steam Deck Compatibility yes
