Fallout 5 remains a bit of a pipe dream for fans of the franchise, with developer Bethesda Entertainment putting all of their proverbial production eggs in one basket, namely getting The Elder Scrolls VI into the hands of players as soon as possible.
Given that it has been over a decade and a half since the last release in the main series for the latter, that's an understandable decision, but it doesn't make it any less galling for players who want to continue exploring the post-apocalypse. Thanks, in part, to the release of the Prime Video adaptation, there are more of those than ever as well, so it would certainly be financially prudent for the developer to placate the masses as quickly as they can. Until then, we have to rely on the extensive modding community that continues to fill in the gaps, and one project in particular looks about as ambitious as they come. Fallout 5? Who Needs It? Over on YouTube, you can find a new trailer for Fallout: Chicago, a DLC-sized mod experience for Fallout: New Vegas that has just released its first demo. As with almost all the cities in the Fallout universe, Chicago is in a pretty sorry state, with various factions vying for dominance and the opportunity to rule over the ashes. The Midwest Brotherhood are set to be one of the biggest and most powerful in the game, with their main rivals being The Union Mob, who continue the city's long tradition of mafia organization wielding a ton of influence. The mod author promises to provide the player with the opportunity to solve some tantalizing pre-war mysteries, as well as pick a side or try and navigate the tricky politics of apocalyptic society. Chicago has already been put forward as a potential locale for the next game in the series, so it's very cool to see what that would be like here. Fallout: Chicago Has A Free Demo You Can Download Now Though the mod is far from finished, the developer has just released their first demo, and it gives players an impressively extensive look at what's to come. Specifically, you'll have access to the entirety of Act 1 of the main story, with an additional three side quests to work through.
