Five peregrine falcon chicks join the ranks of nearly 90 other chicks who have flown from the ledge of the Rachel Carson State Office Building.

The falcon chicks are about 30 days old, and nest on a ledge that’s just four feet wide and about 20 feet long on the 15th floor of the building. Nearly 90 young falcons have occupied the ledge since 2002, making it Pennsylvania’s most productive site for peregrine falcon reproduction, a situation that would have shocked environmentalists 30 years ago.
