The Fairbanks North Star Borough is beginning work on a new comprehensive plan that will guide the borough for the next 20 years.
FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Looking ahead to the next 20 years, the Fairbanks North Star Borough is working to create a new comprehensive plan to shape economic development in the community.
Among the important areas Hopkins and his administration want to address are the housing, military, agriculture and expansions to the Fairbanks International Airport.“200 or so, 250 new families that come into town — that’s over the next several years,” Hopkins said about the incoming personnel that will accompanyThere are other aspects to those issues that might be addressed in the comprehensive plan as well, once community feedback is collected.
That wasn’t as big a priority in the last plan, according to Spillman, but it’s something the borough has been working to improve by changing zoning regulations and passing tax exemptions.
