F1-Inspired Mercedes-AMG GT ‘Motorsport Collectors Edition’ Celebrates AMG’s Losing Streak

AMG is building 200 of the coupes, each fitted with carbon trim and a livery borrowed from the firm’s Petronas F1 racecar

Mercedes has revealed a special edition F1-inspired version of its AMG GT coupe. The Motorsport Collectors Edition is limited to 200 units with hand-painted stars. Each car is based on the 603 hp 63 Pro, the new driver-focused model in the GT lineup. Mercedes - AMG is getting its butt kicked in this year’s F1 Championship by McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari, and the German firm wants to celebrate that failure with a special “Motorsport Collectors Edition” of the AMG GT coupe.

But this one features hand-painted stars across its tail and bright stripes in Petronas’ corporate aquamarine color. The almost neon detailing picks out the side window graphics, the sills, the 21-inch wheel rims, and the front bumper air intakes, and is also used on the carbon brake system’s huge calipers.
