Speaking to the BBC in November 2023, Reeves stated her support for benefits to keep pace with "the inflation rate that is traditional, the September inflation". This update comes alongside revelations from the Department for Work and Pensions that over one million households are not receiving their full entitlement, missing out on a staggering £3 billion in "unfulfilled" benefits. These statistics reflect individuals who are already benefit recipients but may qualify for increased payments due to changes in their circumstances since their initial claim.
