Low earning households in the UK are to benefit from a cash fund to help them pay their household bills this winter. The help – which is worth £200 – is given out by the Department for Work and Pensions to local councils. For households facing financial hardship Following on from the news that the Household Support Fund was to be extended until next April, councils have begun to share details of how they intend to use their portion of the money this time round.
'Various forms of assistance are being offered to address a wide range of household circumstances. Households facing financial hardship can apply for grants through the Hardship Grant Community Fund. These grants are given out by us, with help from the Birmingham Voluntary Service Council and local partner organisations.'
When will the grants be given out? Applications for the grants will reopen from November, with the council confirming that the Fund will remain open until the end of March next year.'Hardship grant requests will open again from November 2024 until March 31, 2025.'
