Former New York State Senator Alessandra Biaggi faced backlash online after telling a New Yorker upset over the new congestion toll to 'get over it.'
Former New York state Senator Alessandra Biaggi faced online criticism after telling a New York City resident on X to 'get over it' regarding his frustration with the new congestion toll. Biaggi responded to a video posted on Monday by an Upper East Side resident, identified as Andrew, who explained how the toll personally impacts him. Andrew stated he had to 'pay $9 to go around the block' and argued that 'something needs to be sorted out for Manhattan residents.
' Biaggi's simple response on X was 'Lord Jesus, get over it.'This comment sparked immediate backlash from X users who deemed it insensitive. One user questioned Biaggi's net worth and accused her of hating working people. Another mocked her with the phrase ''Get over it you poors!' - Alessandra Biaggi.' A third user responded, 'Not everybody has the money to afford this. How are people going to simply 'get over it' you insensitive clown.'Biaggi's subsequent posts on X were inundated with 'get over it' comments from users reminding her that her initial remark was poorly received. When contacted for comment by Fox News Digital, Biaggi stated, 'Congestion pricing is a modern solution to funding our subways. Any person who rides the subway knows that they're in desperate need of updates that require funding. This should have happened sooner.' She further added, 'If New Yorkers want something to be angry about, it should be that Hochul is allowing Andrew Cuomo to spend millions of New York taxpayers' money to retaliate against his credible sexual assault victims.
