“The F-35 took over 20 years in terms of the acquisition process to build and acquire,” Sullivan said. “The U.S. Navy is in its worst crisis on shipbuilding in almost half a century; our ability to build things in the military like ships and submarines has dramatically declined.” “We had an example in Alaska. It took 20 years to get the federal permits to start building the Kensington mine ... the gold mine outside of Juneau,” Sullivan said. “Alaska is ground zero for so much of this delay.”
