She allegedly received a $30,000 salary increase and $6,000 for enrollment costs at a university where she was never enrolled.
has been charged with forgery in the fourth degree, according to a criminal complaint filed by the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office. Amanda Kinney is accused of submitting fraudulent college documents showing credits for courses she hadn’t attended, the prosecutor’s office said.
Great Meadows Superintendent Michael Mai notified the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office about his concerns on Aug. 13, and the Warren County Board of Education andMai told lehighvalleylive.com the questions were raised by the county during certification of Kinney’s documents. A new business administrator was appointed by the school district, after Kinney was fired, Mai said. Kinney pleaded not guilty at her arraignment in October. Her attorney Thomas Fischer said, “she looks forward to pleading her innocence in court.” Warren County detectives allege they were told by Nova Southeastern University representatives that Kinney was never enrolled as a student, despite her claims. The college’s president and its provost were not immediately available to offer a comment, as of Monday, a college representative told lehighvalleylive.com. A number provided by operators to the college’s public relations department was not in service and the provost did not respond to an email from reporters for Kinney is accused of accepting a $30,000 salary increase when she was promoted from assistant business administrator to acting business administrator for the school district. The promotion was granted under the assumption that she would complete coursework at Nova Southeastern University, the school district claims. According to a court filing, the transcripts were hand-delivered and sealed, and listed courses and credits were dated several months in the future, and were “incorrectly organized.” Investigators allege Kinney had received $6,000 from the school district, purportedly to cover enrollment costs at the university. They also claim she accumulated more than $900 in cash-back rewards by using her personal credit cards to secure contract agreements with university vendors.Glenn Epps is an award-winning reporter covering business, real estate, government and breaking news in New Jersey and Pennsylvania for Advance Local Media.
