Lamar Davis, recently paroled for a 1997 murder, was arrested Sunday for fatally shooting a Bronx father, Trevor Hughes, over a parking dispute. Davis' history of violence includes a prior murder conviction, serving over 24 years in prison.

Lamar Davis, who spent over 24 years in prison for a cold-blooded murder in Schenectady nearly 30 years ago, was arrested again on Sunday for fatally shooting a man in the Bronx over a parking dispute . Davis, 42, was involved in a scuffle with Trevor Hughes, a father of four, outside Hughes' Bronx home after Davis and his girlfriend parked in Hughes' designated parking spot. During the altercation, Davis allegedly shot and killed Hughes, while Hughes' girlfriend was severely beaten.

This tragic incident marks Davis' second murder conviction. In 1997, when Davis was just 18 years old, he shot and killed Floyd Berkley in Schenectady. Davis and his co-defendant, Yusef Ramsey, got into a brawl with Berkley, resulting in Ramsey assaulting him and Davis fatally shooting him. After the crime, Ramsey helped Davis escape by providing him with $300 for bus fare. However, police eventually apprehended both men. While Ramsey pleaded guilty to hindering prosecution and assault, Davis pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and served nearly a quarter of a century in state prison before being paroled in March 2021. Davis' history of violence also includes a concurrent sentence in Schenectady for a first-degree assault conviction, which resulted in a 10 to 20-year prison term.Davis' recent arrest for murder in the Bronx highlights the devastating consequences of senseless violence and the dangers of unresolved disputes. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Hughes' death, and Davis faces serious charges for the alleged murder. This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of conflict resolution, community safety, and the need to address violent crime effectively
