After witnessing a sea of leopard, python and zebra prints outside the shows at Seoul Fashion Week, prep took over in Tokyo, with the fashion crowd wearing all sorts of plaid. We noticed the checkered motif trend as early as last year, when Cher Horowitz-approved plaid covered the Fall 2018 runways.
On the streets of Tokyo, we spotted both vibrant checks and more buttoned-up, Ralph Lauren-inspired iterations of the pattern covering jackets, blazers, trousers and hats. Tally up all the plaid appearing on and off the runways, and you'd think fashion people have an unhealthy obsession with "Outlander.
