April 2026 will see some of the most anticipated movies of the year coming to theaters, such as a new Mario Bros. adventure, a new take on a classic monster, a movie about the career of one of the biggest pop stars of all time, and more.
Despite having a slow start when it comes to theatrical releases, 2026 has already seen some big hits, and some of them were released in March. Together, they go on an adventure into outer space and across the galaxy, and during this journey, they meet and befriend Yoshi . The crew also meets Rosalina , a princess from outer space, and faces off against Bowser and his son, Bowser Jr. . The Drama The Drama Will Be Released On April 3, 2026 The Drama is a rom-com written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli. The Drama follows bookstore clerk Emma Harwood and British museum director Charlie Thompson , who are about to get married. However, just days before the wedding, their relationship takes a turn when one of them discovers unsettling truths about the other. Also starring in The Drama are Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Zoë Winters, Anna Baryshnikov, Michael Abbot Jr., and Hailey Gates. You, Me & Tuscany You, Me & Tuscany Will Be Released On April 10, 2026 You, Me & Tuscany is a com-com directed by Kat Coiro and written by Ryan Engle. You, Me & Tuscany is the story of Anna , a young, free-spirited cook who suddenly decides to become a squatter in an abandoned Tuscan villa. Of course, this is a massive change in Anna’s life, not only lifestyle-wise but also culturally. There, she meets Michael , the homeowner’s cousin, with whom she forms a very special connection. Also starring in You, Me & Tuscany are Marco Calvani, Lorenzo de Moor, Nia Vardalos, and Isabella Ferrari. Hamlet Hamlet Will Be Released On April 10, 2026 Hamlet is a British drama movie directed by Aneil Karia and based on William Shakespeare’s classic tragedy of the same name. Hamlet, then, is a modern reimagining of Shakespeare’s work, and it brings Prince Hamlet to contemporary London. Prince Hamlet, haunted by the ghost of his father, descends from London’s elite society into the city’s underground. Hamlet wants revenge for his father’s murder, and this leads him to question his role in his family’s corruption. Also starring in Hamlet are Art Malik, Avijit Dutt, Morfydd Clark, Timothy Spall, Sheeba Chaddha, and Joe Alwyn. Faces of Death Faces of Death Will Be Released On April 10, 2026 Faces of Death is a horror movie directed by Daniel Goldhaber and a remake of the 1978 movie of the same name. Faces of Death follows a woman who moderates a video-sharing platform and thus is responsible for filtering out violent and/or offensive content. One day, she comes across a group that re-enacts murders from the original movie, and questions if they’re real or fake. Also starring in Faces of Death are Dacre Montgomery, Charli XCX, Jermaine Fowler, Josie Totah, and Aaron Holliday. Beast Beast Will Be Released On April 10, 2026 Beast is a sports action drama movie directed by Tyler Atkins and written by Russell Crowe and David Frigerio. Beast tells the story of Patton James , an MMA legend turned commercial fisherman. When his brother is in danger, James is dragged back into the cage. After reuniting with his old coach, Sammy , he prepares to go against the current champion, Xavier Grau . Also starring in Beast are Luke Hemsworth, Mojean Aria, Kelly Gale, and Amy Shark. California Schemin’ California Schemin’ Will Be Released On April 10, 2026 California Schemin’ is a musical biographical movie directed by James McAvoy in his directorial debut. California Schemin’ is the true story of the Scottish rap duo Silibil N’Brains, formed by Billy “Silibil” Boyd and Gavin “Brains” Bain . For three years, Silibil and Brains pretended to be American in order to be taken seriously… and it worked. Also starring in California Schemin’ are James McAvoy, James Corden, Lucy Halliday, Rebekah Murrell, and Jennifer Winn. California Schemin’ premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2025. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Lee Cronin’s The Mummy Will Be Released On April 17, 2026 Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is a supernatural horror movie written and directed by Cronin, and a reimagining of The Mummy franchise. The Mummy tells the story of Charlie and his wife , whose daughter, Katie , is found after being missing for eight years. Katie was found in a sarcophagus and has been displaying strange behavior. Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is unrelated to the franchise led by Brendan Fraser, which is now developing a fourth movie. The family reunion quickly turns into a nightmare, as there are some disturbing secrets to uncover regarding Katie, what happened to her, and why she was in a sarcophagus. Also starring in The Mummy are May Calamawy, Verónica Falcón, Shylo Molina, and Billie Roy. Mother Mary Mother Mary Will Be Released On April 24, 2026 Mother Mary is a psychological drama thriller movie written and directed by David Lowery. Mother Mary stars Anne Hathaway as the title Mother Mary, a pop singer, and Michaela Coel as Sam Anselm, a fashion designer.
