The fire, in Upper Bidwell Park, east of Chico, has prompted evacuation orders in several parts of Butte and Tehama counties. The cause is under investigation.

Earlier this month, more than two dozen structures in the county were destroyed as theJamie Grettum, a Salesforce instructor, lives in Chico and said she could see plumes of smoke all afternoon from her neighborhood. Wednesday evening, she joined hundreds of locals at a nearby park to watch the fire on the horizon and get a sense for “how nervous we need to be right now,” she told The Washington Post.in California’s history, in 2018.
