Switzerland's entrant Nemo has become the first non-binary winner of Eurovision, taking out the 2024 song contest.

The Swiss winner of Eurovision 2024 says the song contest may need "a bit of fixing" after claiming they were forced to smuggle a flag celebrating the non-binary community, in a competition that was filled with controversy amid protests over Israel's inclusion and the shock disqualification of an entrant.

Booing was heard during Golan's performance but also applause, according to a photographer from the Reuters news agency, who was in the auditorium. There was also booing when the points of the Israeli jury were presented. Protesters claimed double standards were being applied after Russia was banned from Eurovision in 2022 following its invasion of Ukraine.
