Etsy is facing criticism for allowing the sale of merchandise featuring the phrase 'deny, defend, depose' which became associated with the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The phrase was found on bullet casings at the crime scene, and numerous items have appeared on Etsy since reports emerged. Etsy's policy prohibits glorifying violence but permits 'vague or nonspecific statements' that don't indicate a credible threat.
Merchants on the popular online commerce site Etsy are selling an array of “deny, defend, depose” merchandise in the wake of the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson .
Among the most expensive offerings was a package of 50 stickers for $129.99 and a hoodie for $98. The cheapest was a PNG image download of Thompson’s alleged killer, Luigi Mangione, reading "free that boi." A press representative for Etsy did not respond to a request for comment from The National News Desk about the offerings.
