A visit by a group of students with special needs to a Charles County, Maryland restaurant has ignited outrage and calls for a boycott.
It involves the Cracker Barrell Old Country Store restaurant in Waldorf and a Charles County Public Schools program called ACHIEVE. The program uses community-based instruction to help students better navigate their community.According to a statement from Charles County Superintendent of Schools Maria Navarro, on Dec. 3 a group of 11 students and seven staff members went on their annual Christmas shopping trip and planned to have lunch at the Cracker Barrel.
For parent Stacey Campbell the apology is not enough she tells 7News, “To say I'm beyond disappointed would be an understatement. Though I would go there from time to time, I will never spend another cent in that establishment.”
