Marvel's Eternals won the top prize at this year's GLAADawards. Other big winners were HBO Max's Hacks and Peacock's Saved by the Bell. Check out the full list of winners ▶️

Eternals takes home one of the top prizes from the GLAAD Media Awards. The GLAAD Awards took place last night in a ceremony that was hosted by Shangela, Bob the Drag Queen, and Eureka O’Hara. Also in attendance were pop musicians Troye Sivan and Jojo Siwa, with actors Jasmin Savoy-Brown, Mira Sorvino, Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo, and Andrew Garfield, whose film tick... tick... BOOM! in which he starred as Rent playwright Jonathan Larson, was nominated this year.

The GLAAD Media Awards are self-described as honoring"fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of LGBTQ people," so it makes sense why Eternals would have garnered more attention here than its Marvel peers. In addition to having a racially diverse cast and deaf representation, Eternals features the MCU's first LGBTQ superhero. That hero is Phastos, the technology wizard played by Brian Tyree Henry.

After the Oscars awarded most of the pre-established frontrunners in last weekend's ceremony, it was refreshing for a different set of titles to be celebrated. This will probably be the highest moment this season for a film like Eternals, which was less celebrated than the other 2021 entries in its franchise. Hopefully, this will encourage studios across the industry to invest in more thoughtful and thorough representation across the board.
