Ronaldo has been the subject of much transfer speculation over the past month, with the 37-year-old reportedly intent on exiting Old Trafford one season after his return to the club.
Despite his usual productivity, the Red Devils were unable to mount any serious challenge for major honours last season. In fact, the red half of Manchester suffered their worst-ever finish to a Premier League season in the 2021/22 campaign, when they managed to accumulate only 58 points. It is because of this lack of competitiveness, and 2022/23 UEFA Champions League football, that Ronaldo is reportedly keen to leave United as he looks to add to his already massive trophy haul in the twilight of his career.
However, new United manager Ten Hag has made a bold claim regarding what the future holds for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. "Cristiano Ronaldo is not for sale, he is in our plans – he's not with us due to personal issues," the Dutchman said during a press conference on Monday, as per Fabrizio Romano.The 13-time Premier League champions are currently on a pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia, where they will prepare for the upcoming campaign, but whether or not Ronaldo will join up his teammates this week remains to be seen.
