With wantaway star Cristiano Ronaldo currently not on Manchester United'sOn Friday, the Manchester side departed England for their first international tour in three years, which will see them play pre-season fixtures in Bangkok, Melbourne, and Perth.The Portugal captain was not on the plane, though, having missed all of United's pre-season training so far as he continues to deal with a"family issue".
New manager Erik ten Hag is set to kick off his reign on Tuesday when his team locks horns in a friendly with Liverpool in Thailand, before they jet off to Australia on Wednesday., the Red Devils have decided that if Ronaldo is not able to return to club duty by the end of this week, they will rule him out for the rest of the tour, believing it would be pointless flying him out at a later time.
This will be a blow for Ten Hag as he has not yet got the chance to talk to and assess Ronaldo – who has reportedly asked the United hierarchy to let him leave Old Trafford in this window – and see where he fits in the squad ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
With pre-season already fully underway, the Manchester club is understood to be looking to complete the rest of their transfer business as early as possible.
