SAN ANTONIO - Officials with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas are predicting an active hurricane season this year, but they're not predicting brutal heat.If you'll remember, ERCOT requested “ Energy Conservation ” last August, at least 8 separate times.As for the reason, they say it's because August days are shorter and there's less solar power , but the demand for power remains the same.
“What does keep you up at night when looking at the summer ahead? What do you feel are the biggest areas to watch?" asked Dan Woodfin of ERCOT"The primary one is: ‘Do we have demand versus supply?’” Another possible hindrance to the grid is new rules outlined by the Environmental Protection Agency .“This is devastating to reliability, not only in Texas, but all across the United States," said "When I was looking at the rulemaking that the EPA came up with, it seems like they were using sort of like an alternative fictional analysis, that their rulemakings had no impact on reliability.
