Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek says the government will need to do “legislative amendments” for the Murray-Darling Basin Plan in coming weeks. “One of the things that we’ll be doing at the same time is we’ll be, for example, changing the deadlines of the plan, and removing the cap of 1,500 gigalitres of water that can be purchased,” Ms Plibersek said during a press conference on Tuesday. “Making sure that the water for the environment’s special account can be used to do voluntary water purchase.”
