Over the one-year period that ended on March 4, average gasoline prices jumped by 37.2% in the Bay Area, 36.8% in California and 39.8% in the United States.This means Bay Area gasoline prices are higher than the nationwide price average by a head-spinning 35%, or $1.34 a gallon.
Well before the war in Europe erupted, average gasoline prices had already skyrocketed in the Bay Area.Over the one-year period that ended on Nov. 26, gasoline prices in the Bay Area had risen roughly 47%, according to this news organization’s analysis of statistics posted on the GasBuddy site.
