Google is asking its employees based out of the Bay Area and other U.S. locations to return to the office the week of April 4, according to a report from CNBC.

in January was delayed by the omicron variant. In February, the company told The New York Times about 30% of its Bay Area workforce worked on site.

However, the tech giant had been quiet about when it would require employees to return to a physical office location. Most of the company’s employees will be on a hybrid work schedule, working three days in office and two days remotely. Employees can request a work-from-home extension if they need more time returning. Some employees may need to work more than three days on site, depending on the nature of their role. Employees can also go into the office more than three days a week if preferred.

Not all employees will be returning to their pre-pandemic desk, as Google said nearly 14,000 of its employees have been moved to fully remote work or have moved offices. The company said it approved 85% of applications for fully remote or relocation.
