It wasn't an easy journey from Silas to Columbia.
The walk across the state was for a cause close to Wallace's heart: to raise money for Speed the Light, a program supporting missionaries around the world.
“I think I gained a better understanding of what the missionaries give up because I gave up a week to go walk across the state of Alabama but they are giving up all of their time and effort to not see family members again and friends and to go to other countries to preach the word,” Wallace said. “From doing this walk, it makes me just have such a huge respect for all these missionaries and the sacrifice they make just for spreading the word of God. It’s amazing,” Sawyer said.
