, an Elizabethan manor house completed in 1580 that became the world’s first safari park outside of Africa in 1966.Back then, it was my husband’s forward-looking grandfather who – realising that homes like ours risked falling into disrepair without a stream of income to support their upkeep – brought the famous lions of Longleat to Wiltshire six decades ago.
