"There was a moment where the RFS were ticking and crossing different assets that they thought they wouldn't be able to save and that's a real eye opener," he said."We've lost a reasonable amount of pasture, but that's something to be dealt with when all this settles down at the moment our houses and infrastructure is all safe."Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has extended a local fire ban for North Coast region residents.
Police have also confirmed an earlier fire in Beerwah that forced the evacuation of homes along Mawsons Road and Holt Road on October 21 is also being treated as suspicious. Acting Superintendent Herbert says crew reinforcements are being brought in from interstate to support local firefighters, who have been battling blazes in the area for several weeks now."They're getting tired, they do need a break, and the assistance we're going to get from our southern colleagues is much appreciated.
