Soaring temperatures, dry conditions and gusty winds are threatening to elevate the fire danger across Queensland.

Fire bans are in place for more than 80 per cent of local government areas, as firefighters continue to battle about 80 blazes that have already destroyed 46 homes and tens of thousands of hectares of land since last week.

QFES is urging locals to"leave immediately" as their lives could be at risk, warning it will soon be too dangerous to drive.LEAVE IMMEDIATELY - Tara, Montrose North, Wieambilla and The Gums - Multiple Warnings - fire as at 8:52am Tuesday, 31 October 2023.There is a Watch and Act bushfire warning for Kogan in the Western Downs Region for properties between Montrose Road, Tara Kogan Road and Weitzels Road.

"Extreme Fire Danger is forecast for the following fire weather district: Darling Downs and Granite Belt," the latest warning read. She warned on Monday that fire bans would be enacted in more than 64 of the state's 77 Local Government Areas on Tuesday, given the extreme fire danger rating in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt.
