Smoke from the fire completely covered the road and obscured the view of vehicles.
Police confirmed that they were made aware of a vehicle fire in the area.
Fire crews later confirmed to the Glasgow Times that they had responded to a call where a van had overheated.It comes as Glasgow reached temperatures of 30 degrees on Tuesday, with even higher temperatures elsewhere in the UK. A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said:"We were alerted at 2.35pm on Tuesday, July 19 to reports of a vehicle fire on Wallace Street, Glasgow."There were no reported casualties."
