Firefighters and police are at the scene
A section of a busy road has been blocked off as emergency services were called to the scene of a fire. Clouds of smoke were reportedly seen rising from the fields just on outskirts of Lowdham, in the area of Gunthorpe shortly after 2.30 on Tuesday .
Part of the A6097 in Lowdham has been shut as a result, according to traffic monitoring website Inrix. In an update on their website, it reads: "A6097 in both directions partially blocked, queueing traffic due to fire services activity around Gunthorpe Road." Drivers are advised to use alternative routes while the incident is ongoing. Train services have also been impacted as a result.In a statement, the train operator East Midlands Railway said: "There is a fire next to the track at Lowdham. This is between Nottingham and Newark Castle and is disrupting our trains on the Leicester/Lincoln/Grimsby route.This is a breaking news story. Follow our liveblog below for the latest updates.
