A Chicago developer is preparing to build a Residence Inn by Marriott at the southeast corner of Alamo and Grayson streets.
The property at 1818 N. Alamo St. in the Government Hill Neighborhood is the future home of a Residence Inn hotel.The Pearl area is on its way to becoming a hotel district, with a Chicago developer preparing to build an eight-story Residence Inn by Marriott amid a planned mixed-use neighborhood on the east side of Broadway.
Phoenix Pearl LLC, linked with the Chicago hotel builder Phoenix Development Partners, expects to break ground in November on the 175-room, $37 million hotel at the southeast corner of Alamo and Grayson streets, according to plans filed last week with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
The hotel — part of a chain offering rooms for extended stays, with private kitchens and complimentary grocery delivery — would be a significant addition to the growing business and hospitality cluster along lower Broadway.Meanwhile, GrayStreet is teaming with the local retail builder Fulcrum Development to build the long-awaited Broadway East, also known as the, across several city blocks south of the planned Residence Inn.
“It’ll be absolutely beautiful, high quality, but not to that level of quality or service,” he told the Report last year. “Hotel Emma is such its own thing and its own brand that we want to make sure that this hotel is both actually and perceived as different than Hotel Emma.”
