While flights are taking off as scheduled at OR Tambo International Airport, it is not business as usual for airport transfer operators. The shuttle service owners say the protest is costing them money NationalShutdown
Transfer and shuttle service owner Musa Malinga said the presence of law enforcement at the airport would ensure their safety. While he applauded the red berets for"fighting for what they believe in and for us", he said he would stick to what he knew best.
"One thing that is affecting us today is having to pay for parking, which we never have to. So we have to use money we would usually save, for parking." A police officier who did not want to be named concurred with Malinga, who has been in the industry for 25 years, and simply told City Press:"I do not foresee any disruptions here today. But we are ready."Last week, EFF members went to OR Tambo International Airport and urged staff and businesses not to operate during today's shutdown.
