LIVE | Over 24 000 tyres confiscated amid NationalShutdown
Over 24 000 tyres have been found and confiscated by the police and other law enforcement agencies. The tyres were hidden under bridges and other strategic points.A total of 87 suspects have been arrested in connection with the EFF's national protest. Police minister Bheki Cele said the majority of the suspects were arrested in Gauteng overnight. He briefed the media on Monday morning.
"57 people have been arrested around the country. Gauteng leads, followed by the Free State, Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal. Those nabbed were arrested for public violence and intimidation, the minister explained. A total of 41 suspects were arrested in Gauteng, 29 in the North West and 15 in the Free State.
