Murphy revealed that 'Inner Excellence' was born from his own personal journey of self-discovery, inspired by a period of solitude spent in the desert. He spent years working on the book, at one point $90,000 in debt, unsure if anyone besides his mother would ever read it. The book's core message focuses on overcoming self-centeredness, a challenge Murphy believes hinders personal and professional performance. He proposes that true excellence arises from selflessness and embracing the present moment.Murphy's book eventually caught the attention of DJ Giaritelli, a theological consultant with ties to the University of Texas at Austin where Eagles defensive tackle Moro Ojomo played college football. A group of Penn State wrestling alumni reached out to Murphy, inviting him to be a part of their multimillion-dollar leadership training center in Lititz, Pennsylvania. They plan to utilize 'Inner Excellence' as the foundation for their program and are eager to have Murphy establish an 'Inner Excellence' headquarters in the area. Murphy, who is also an Eagles fan, is excited about this new chapter and the opportunity to contribute to the city's thriving community.
