Dominic Norman Vincent is a parishioner of the Church of Jesus Caritas, Kepong.The year started with a bang. Getting reconnected with God after two years of not doing so, finding ways to up my career game and hey! landing a job in Maxis which I am super grateful for. I had my ambitions, hopes, dreams and plans set for the year!
It was blissful. I thought life with God now would take me to the most joyful places. However again, “Man proposes, God disposes.” I found myself being broken. I had to let go. I had to let go of people, moments, plans and dreams. My pride was dismissed and true to the verse, I found myself dying to self and picking up the cross, following. I found myself distraught, knowing that I had broken several people in the past, made wrong choices, and the reality hit me. I was at my lowest.
I never understood when people said God is closest to you when He is silent. I always thought it was nothing but a consoling phrase. Now I am an advocate of that cliché. God indeed was close to me every step of the way. He picked me up, turned me around and set my feet on solid ground. At that point, I thought that, that was enough, but somehow again, “Man proposes God disposes.” He had more plans for me. The choir is one of them and truly it was one of the best 2022 moments of my life.
